Summer Musical -GREASE

GREASE by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey is the Tony Award winning musical based on the sub-cultures found in many high schools of the 1950’s. The show takes place at the hyperactive Rydell High School, where Danny Zuko fronts his gang-The T-Birds- who romance their sassy female equivalents-The Pink Ladies. When “good-girl” Sandy Dumbronski arrives in town, the Pink Ladies take her under their collective wing. Other memorable roles include a visit from the Teen Angel, radio disc jockey Vince Fontaine, English teacher, Ms. Lynch, as well as “cameos” from great musical groups from “the ‘50’s”.
Featured in the score are smash hit songs such as “Summer Nights”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, “We Go Together”, “You’re the One That I Want”, “Grease Lightning”, and the title song “Grease is the Word!” In addition to great songs and energetic dialogue, GREASE features great “boy and girl” band vocals, instrumentals, and an exciting National Dance Contest which will make you want to revive your “Hand Jive” skills!
The production, scheduled for July 17, 18, and 19, will be directed by Larry Vaught and be accompanied by a “totally-rockin’” stage band led by the Glema Center’s Community Programs & Marketing Coordinator, Lynn Curtis.
Remember…GREASE is the word! For more information, please call 270-824-8651. The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is located on the campus of Madisonville Community College, 2000 College Drive, Madisonville, KY.
