We are enthusiastically planning for the Glema Center’s 2025 Summer Arts Academy! As always, this academy focuses on education and technique, giving students a strong foundation for the future. There is a final showcase event, but the emphasis throughout their time with us will be on education and skills, not the performance.

Essentials for all Academies:
- Grades listed refer to the grade the student will complete in May 2025. For 2025 only, students exiting 8th grade may choose to participate with either the Middle School or the High School group. This decision MUST be made at the time of registration, as space in each group is limited.
- Registration opens March 11 for elementary groups (grades K-4), March 12 for middle school groups (grades 5-7), and March 13 for high school groups (grades 8-12). Registration will be available online, over the phone at 270-821-2787 from 10am to 4pm, and in person at the Glema Center office from 10am to 4pm.

- A 25% sibling discount for two or more students from one immediate family is available, but not applicable for online registration. Please call or visit the office after registration opens to sign up siblings and receive this discount.

Lower Elementary School Academy – Grades K-1

Performance: Friday, June 20, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
$75 per student
Show: Pajama Party : It’s time for bed – time to pick up our toys, take a bath time, brush our teeth and put our PJs on to end the day. But wait! What’s that noise I hear under my bed? Where’s my teddy bear? See how bedtime can really be a blast!
Upper Elementary School Academy – Grades 2-4

Monday-Friday, June 16-20, 2025

Performance: Friday, June 20, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
$75 per student
Show: Disney’s Frozen Kids : You’ll love this fanciful and heartwarming stage adaptation of the celebrated animated film. Join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and all of your favorite characters as they embark on an epic, ice-filled journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the real meaning of true love. Adapted for young performers, this musical includes favorite Frozen songs such as “Love Is an Open Door,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” and “Let It Go,” as well as wonderful new songs from the Broadway production. This production of Frozen KIDS is sure to prove that “some people are worth melting for.”

Middle School Academy – Grades 5-7
Registration for this age group opens online, in person, and over the phone at 270-821-2787 on Wednesday, March 12, at 10am CST. For 2025 only, students exiting 8th grade may choose to participate with either the Middle School or the High School group. This decision MUST be made at the time of registration, as space in each group is limited.

Performance: Friday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m.
$150 per student
Show: Disney’s Frozen Jr. : The enchanting modern classic from Disney is ready for your Broadway Junior stars! Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.
A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Middle School StageCraft Academy – Grades 5-7

For 2025 only, students exiting 8th grade may choose to participate with either the Middle School or the High School group. This decision MUST be made at the time of registration, as space in each group is limited.
Monday-Friday, June 2-6, and Monday-Friday, June 9-13
8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Performance: Friday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m.
$150 per student
Camp participants will be taught basic stagecraft during the first week, then spend the second week applying that knowledge in running the technical aspects of the production.

High School Academy – Grades 8-12
Registration for this age group opens online, in person, and over the phone at 270-821-2787 on Thursday, March 13, at 10am CST. For 2025 only, students exiting 8th grade may choose to participate with either the Middle School or the High School group. This decision MUST be made at the time of registration, as space in each group is limited.

Performance: Saturday, June 14, at 7:00 p.m.
$150 per student
Show: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR : The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Grades refer to the level the student is completing in school in Spring 2025. Please note one change from recent years: exiting 8th graders are now part of the High School Academy.
For 2025 only, students exiting 8th grade may choose to participate with either the Middle School or the High School group. This decision MUST be made at the time of registration, as space in each group is limited.
Middle School and High School participants will have the option of the onstage performance track or the backstage stagecraft track. This decision also must be made at the time of registration.
Registration for all age groups will be conducted online, via phone, and in person at the Glema Center office in March; watch the Glema Center’s website and social media for announcements of dates and times when they are finalized. Titles for each group will be announced with they are confirmed!
All academies and performances will take place onsite at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts.
