Here’s a look at a few of these events that occurred during the 2022-23 Season.

Lexington Children’s Theatre presented four productions throughout the school year as part of the School Days Matinees series, including Anansi the Spider in March 2023.

Cornbread & Tortillas visited all eight public elementary schools in Hopkins County in October 2022, presenting a mix of all-encompassing assemblies and focused workshops on the topics of Appalachian clogging and flatfooting, Andean folk culture and instruments, and the folk dance of Mexico. Following a free public workshop focused on cultural dance, the residency culminated with the Cornbread & Tortillas theatrical show at the Glema Center. The dynamic bilingual production featured stories, music, and dancing. The audience journeyed from the Appalachian region of Eastern Kentucky to Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and beyond, exploring connections and celebrating the shared human experience.

The Eykamp String Quartet completed a residency in September 2022, which included presentations at every public elementary school in Hopkins County Schools and a Chamber Music Series concert at the Glema Center.
